Represententive of my shadow and my right vision field cut in Louis Vuitton Gallory.

My Field Cut is basically, "Vision loss can be caused by a variety of diseases and injuries, including age-related eye conditions such as glaucoma, cataracts, and macular degeneration. In addition, stroke and traumatic head injuries can produce sudden and dramatic vision loss. There are many types of brain injury–related visual field deficits, and each type affects a person’s life in significant and sometimes devastating ways."

Last Saturday, I had class 15th reunion!! I talked to some of classmates. It's good to reunite. They (and I) look like in high school, wow, but they have children!!! Wow!

I have a problem. I got new prescription for glasses about a month ago. I had to have prism glasses from the mainland which takes about two weeks! And the first lasses came back wrong. Twiddle my thumbs, another two weeks on the mainland. With my OLD glasses, I could read the computer and watch the TV out of the lower part of the glasses, but with the NEW glasses I can see okay straight ahead, but I can not read and watch TV because of double vision. It's depressing. I had checked with my eye doctor and he said That's it. I have put my head down.

By the way, 6 months ago at night without my glasses I could read a book or Sudoko with one left eye. Before I had surgery in 2007, my right eye is stronger, so therefore I shut my left eye. So I don't know what happened to me!

Happy May Day!!! Chemistry class ended. All the doctor's ended (Botox and CT Scan) and my Jazzy Bass and four singers ended. Woohoo!!!! I am going to hang up in my painting at Manifest next week, hopefully!!! Busy last week! Sigh!!!

OOOooo! My VERY first photo and painting at Macy's!!!

Just to let you know of the background of this photo: I was one of the women featured in photos at the annual Heart Ball in Honolulu, all survivors of cardio-vascular disease, or have family members affected. Other survivors participated in a Macy's fashion show, Go Red for Women, during Heart Month last year. The photos are now on display on the 3rd floor of Macy's Ala Moana. It's the Anthurium flower, like a heart shape, as in Heart Ball for Valentine's day! The photographer was Arna Johnson, and Robert Pennybacker, a cancer survivor, wrote my story to go with the photo. Yeah!!!

I saw "Faust" two days ago at the Opera. Faust and Marguerite are happily couple in the second act, but he shy away. Faust and Marguerite's brother had a duel match . . . , I didn't tell a end of the plot line, BUT a Dirty Scumbucket!!!! Grr!!!

In the light at a tunnel, my painting in Anthurium. American Heart Assosiation, they wanted to do an Anthurium at Valentines Day. It was really exquisite and then I use the knife palette! Aha!!

Tsunami Warning 3/11

Well, it was a scary, eventful yesterday. I heard the sirens in Hawaii every once an hour (or a couple of hours). We had last year Tsunami warnings in January 2010 from the earthquak in Chile, scary sirens but uneventful. I think in third grade, or so, they had Tsunami warning and I was scared. My mom, and I took a couple of jounalists to cover the story. And I was frightened, but in the end the Tsunami fizzled. Funny story, Hawaiian Ryan on the radio said, "I have a feeling that COSTCO started the earthquake to boost sales during the world wide TSUNAMA WARNING. Apparently TSUNAMI WARNING=GET 48 JARS of PEANUT BUTTER."

So true, so true!! LOL!

Eighth year of stroke day!!!

Eight years ago Erica and I were planning at Harvard Eating Disorders a Public Forum with Jamie Sigler (Soprano's TV Drama). I felt exhausted, happy and melted into my couch at night. I took two pills of Aleve, because throbbing in my brain. I also had been applying to Psychology PhD programs. I lay down to sleep, but it was hurting in my brain. I don't remember the next day when I had a stroke. Anyways, I was in coma in one and a half months.

And now, I am MUCH better than as expected!! : )

I felt frustrated my computer cookies! I know, I know, it was a busy two weeks! Then I unknowingly, I erased my cookies! Then I added my two paintings and then(!) my photos of Arna at American Heart Ball, BUT I can't open the photos!!!!!!!! Wo is me! Help! Help! OMG! But I felt angry and all right of the body tingly (and it's sign of progress!!! Yes!!!!!!!) Just I thought you know!! See you about next MONTHS uploads the photos! Woohoo! : (

Gabby Giffords

My Mom told me about gun shooting in Tucson, Arizona. It was Representative Gabby Giffords' brain injury and she's surviving! Way to go, Gabby!

For Mom and Helen, they remember my brain injury and recovery. ( I had a stroke in 2003). I don't remember when I first opened my eyes, but my mom does. Today Gabby had a trach tube and feeding tube put in, also like me. It didn't faze me at all. Just like Senator Tim Johnson, also, like me, he had an AVM. Brain Surgery can be brutal, followed by Speech Therapy, Occupational Therapy and looooong Physical Therapy. And then if Gabby and Tim can do therapy then I can make it, too!!! : )

Well, "Oh, weather outside is frightful!" Yup, it sure is. California and United Kingdom, are high winds snow and rain! Besides that in Hawaii today now, it feels cool/HOT (vog) and this past year was an unusual year for me!

Last Spring Semester, I had Economics and World Politics, sounds interesting(!), but no, it was gruelingly HARD. I skipped the Economics, the teacher said we needed to have taken a previous economics class. But I did take Economics in past decade ago, . . . right, NO! I skipped one day. : ( World Politics is good learning skill for me, and then fizzled out. I love presentation slides, it works handy, but no slides in World Politics! And then World Politics teacher had a stroke and he died after the semester finished! Oh no!

Last Fall Semester, I was in Botany. I didn't take Botany in College, but sounds interesting! But low and behold, the teacher said, you have to take chemistry, but there's no prerequisites! So I skipped half of semester. I'm going to take next semester on the basic, basic, basic Chemistry. Sounds like an adventure? Woohoo, full speed ahead!!

I do couple reading material in my time and now I'm trying the Bionessy for my arm, too! I've had the Bionessy for my leg for about two years, and it really helps. I'm suppose to use the arm Bioness three times a day right now, but it's Christmas. I'm toooooooo busy!

Last Thursday and Friday, I went with my mom and Wendy, Occupational Therapy for 45 minutes. It was an easy day, . . . well no it WAS a stressful day. Thursday, with Wendy, and home three times a day with 15 minutes and dinner with the gang. Friday, 45 minutes with Wendy, at home with Helen's exercises and gossiping, painting in the afternoon. Well, it was HARD grueling day today, right! On top of it all I think I have a cold and the raining weather ta bout!

. . . making food to eat, dropped on and off in the car, hug your keikis/kids, and she laugh at my jokes. Last week, my mom was typing with me to American Heart Association "Go Red Photo Gallery" bio book.

I have a good friend from childhood, who was a constant visitor when I was in the hospital in Boston. We talk on the telephone, and although I have aphasia, and can’t always express myself well, she is very patient with me.

Later in the afternoon, I had nice napped. And then, But, I forgotten my Mom!!

Busy month!

Last month I talked to my Doctor about Botox in my arm and he wrote the prescription to Physical Therapy AND Occupational therapy. And the last session was yesterday, but I don't know what to do next. We are friends and I'd like them a lot, but I'll go next in 6 months! Check this on video.

It looks like R2D2! Ha! My right weak leg, using the Tibion robotic leg, is VERY strong! Whoa! This is very exiting! Hear it?

Another note, I miss class in Botany. It's too complicated. My teacher said to know Chemistry, but I took it 17 years ago in high school, not college! But, I guess I'll try Chemistry 100 in the Spring Semester. Sigh!

Ooo, yeah last November 3rd, I was in Art from the Heart. And I sold 7 or 8 paintings. Last year I sold 4 or 5 paintings, it was alright, but now. . . we're in the money!!! I priced my earlier paintings lower, as expected. But I'm so happy!

I had nice chat with Hermine's children last Friday! I donated my painting of her to her children!

Again, last Friday I talked to Dennis, while at painting. A couple decades ago, he was snorkeling and he lost control of his legs after getting the "Bends." He keeps looking progressively better! Wow! I'm like that with my stroke, staying positive! But, the sad thing, it gets slowly difficult. Sigh! Right now, it's coming up 8 years post-stroke?! Wow! But, I can think of new growth!

I got NEW low flow toilets and eco-showerhead water at Home Depot! Woohoo! It uses 1.28 gal. per flush, one-fourth as much water as the old ones, 5 gpf! And showerheads use to be 2.5 gp min. and now 1.5 gpm! Now, on to the next, eco-faustets!

Okay, I did audit course (attend informally, not for academic credit) and now have to take a test. Boohoo! But, what the heck, it's AUDIT. Sigh of relief! But, I WILL try it again next semester.

Good choice of Botany words: Parenchyma pəˈre ng kəmə (the cellular tissue, typically soft and succulent, found chiefly in the softer parts of leaves, pulp of fruits, bark and pith of stems, etc.), pith (the spongy cellular tissue in the stems and branchesof many higher plants.) and Sclerenchyma skliˈre ng kəmə (strengthening tissue in a plant, formed from cells with thickened, typically lignified, walls.)! I love the sounds! Ha!

Sad news! Joyce had passed away! She had ALS, (amyotrophic lateral sclerosis) a progressive degeneration of the motor neurons of the central nervous system, leading to wasting of the muscles and paralysis. Also called Lou Gehrig's disease . She's smoked, drank and had tremendous flexibility!

I watched a movie about Noam Chomsky, "Manufacturing Consent: Noam Chomsky and the Media". He talks about social justice, Civil Rights in American 1950-60s, East Timor, Palestine and Cambodia. He is a Libertarian Socialist, he wants to end poverty around the world. Let me specific, there isn't news, but there IS genocide in a small country like East Timor in 1970s and Cambodia. Wow, and he's Pro-Palestine, but he's Jewish! It's loooooong movie, but it's makes you think! ">.

I'm all discombobulated about my exam, Botany 101. Double gulp!!! It's multiple choice and True/False and the essays (I didn't even go there. Ha!). When I was young and sprightly, multiple choice was EASY! That's a bunch beeswax!! It's so hard to be in this room! I was going to the special testing room at the library, but the test was not there! I walked a LOOOOONG distance to the regular classroom. And I worked diligently with isotopes and chromoplast. Ugh! Otherwise, I've come out through (sigh of relief!), sort of!!

Last weekend, I saw how to make rain barrels!! See the video clip . . .

It's neat-o!! I asked the demonstrator whether my apartment could use rain barrels and he said, "Sure! Why not!" I'm all excited and made an information sheet for our residential manger. but she said no can do. Our condo's water problem is every time an apartment needs to shut off the water, the entire drain line has to be emptied and water is wasted. : ( But, I have others in mind!

I watched "Mao's Last Dancer" with Amanda Schull, a classmate from my high school. It was really interesting and I can read the subtitles!!!!!! Yeah! Thank goodness!! "Kay" had asked me to go to the movies, "Yes, but not a foreign film. It's hard to read the subtitles quickly." So, she read the plot line and she wanted to see "Inception" or "Eat Pray Love", but she read the plot line for "Mao's" and I said it sounded really GOOD, AND it has a classmate of mine! HA! But, it had subtitles!!!!!! But, alls well that ends well and I can read the words!!!!

I walked one mile and didn't get tired and FAST! Nice start to the weekend!!

Anyways the class I'm taking this semester is Botany 101. Yes, it sounds interesting about plants! I watered my plants everyday, but all the leaves withered!!! But, I think I know how to fix them: NOT everyday, but every other day! HA! I got lettuce sprouting, but keep hoping!!

Stroke Survivor Learns How to Use Hand

I went to Occupational Therapy, to see my "new" Bioness in the arm for eight sessions.

Look at his hand, it SO supple! It stimulates muscles in his hand, and its not harmful. But it's kind of exciting!! She switches the unit off/on and his hand opens/closes. I think (sort of) I did that, but it's hard work! Anyway, my occupationals therapist said work on 6 months to get "better". Just seeing his video, I'm going to go jump on the band wagon!

I looked my friends "Mike" and "William", stroke survivors. Their hands were either tight or atrophied. I'm happy that I can use my hand.

I have started plants (tomatoes, orchids and etc) on the patio, composting (worm bins), and we try to go to the Farmer's Market once a week (sort of), but it's not enough! I THINK(?) sugar and pineapple plantations are almost all gone now in the last decade. Can make it better next time around now??

Recently, my classmate had a stroke. OMG! She is living and I don't know how her speech is. And then, my Political Science teacher from last semester had a stroke this past weekend and he DIED!!! Another one of my painting program who I dearly love, two weeks ago passed away. But, I keep my chin up and SMILE! Always look on the bright side of life!

Yesterday in the evening watching "Precious," which is awe-inspiring(!), aweful looooooooooong beeping. It was the bioness-y! I muffled with towel and shut the bathroom door. It was my leg battery died! My Mom called the Prosthetics man, Kai. It will change the battery tomorrow, TOMORROW?, I can't stand beeping! Arg! What do we do!!! But, now it stopped beeping. Whew!! Thank goodness!

Last Friday, I saw Hair! It's interesting, they were young Adults. Oh right, not OLD Adults, duh! There was an underwear involved, not like a nudity. Mikey said the tune is "Hair! I gonna live forever! I gonna learn how to fly, HIGH!" HAHAHA, but it's "Fame", not "When the moon is second house . . . "

And I was busy, but last Saturday to learn to grow Tomatoes. There were ALL kinds of pests! Yikes! It was too much to know! I saw some "leaf miners." See the swirly and the spine with a white green leaves? There's leaf miners! A Ha! How interesting!! I never knew what a leaf miners was!

I bombed in the Midterm!

That's the end of the Spring Break and now I have a Midterm coming up Thursday! Aya ya ya! Remember when I had an F!!!!!!!! . . . those philosophy questions like that! I couldn't understad it!! Ugh! No, double Ugh!

Oh, right! Last February 25th, I noted my seventh year of stroke day. Wow, that's fast, but I'm still standing! And look at me now! Woohoo!! Also, March 25th, the sixth years since my seizure. Pat myself! (Pat, pat!)

OMG! One week ago, or two weeks ago, . . . whenever, I had a cockaroach on my cheek at my bed. And it startled me! Eew! And then two days ago, low and behold, at my bed a COCKAROACH! I brushed off! And then the third roaches! I had nightmares of BIG creepy crailing cockaroaches, I didn't sleep a wink! But, I'm SCARED, yes, but I didn't "touched a fly", it's disgusting! I slept on my couch, but it's too skinny. Then I went to mom's bed. Two days ago, Mom vacuumed and squashed the cockaroach. Whew! That's a relief! And now, I loved MY bed! It so soft, compared to others.

I got the exam for Political Science Midterm AND I got an D/F!!!!!! OMG!!!!!! Yikes! I never had D/F in High School or College!! Come to think about it, I was an auditing in 2007. No grades. Whew! And in the Midterm, True/False and fill-in-the-blanks, I get confused. So I picked any which way. And then, my teacher is so cerebral in the exam AND class. I couldn't answer! In class, he said, "What is Authority?" Ummm, I don't know! Helen said, "My Mom". HAHAHA! But, keep striving to do new things! Look at me now! Weeeee! Woohoo!

Anyway, two weeks ago, I had Carnival, American Heart Association Fashion Show and whale watching. It was BUSY two days! I love working my shift in Punahou Carnival at munching in Malasada! Mmmm!

The Fashion Show was pretty hectic, my sandels keep bothering me or is it my nervous? YES! Five minutes to the show, I threw the sandels and I wore just my shoes!

In the whale watching last two weeks, it was wonderful!!! They had a mommy and a kid whales! Last year on a whale watching tour, it was a small meager whales, but this is by far better!

I was photographed at Rehab in Bioness-y and low and behold, holy smokes, it's Punahou 95ers who were the photographers!!! Anyway, I walked up and down in Bioness-y. Ever since the middle of January 2009, it's gets SO itchy on my calfs. Ugh! I was hoping take my photo and in the end, no itchness! Thank Goodness! But' it was very productive event! I think they laughed at me. Yes!

Oh yah! Yesterday, I went to an Opera, Le Nozze Di Figaro. I had to strain my neck up high to see the supertitle. It was VERY difficult and my neck is sore! But, it well worth it, no dying in the end!! But there was a woman playing a man, he's a ladies man! Groan!

Today, I had a Fun Run/Walk and it was raining! Thank Goodness, we need some rain, because of El nino, ie "Warm water speads from the west Pacific and the Indian Ocean to the east Pacific. It takes the rain with it, causing extensive drought in the western Pacific and rainfall in the normally dry eastern Pacific."

I posted it of my paintings, "Jumping around!" and "The tongue series #2". Ooo, I like the best in "The tongue series"!

Classes! Gulp!

I had first TWO classes; Principles Of Economics/Macro and Introdution to World Politics. It was good and bad; very, very bad! I studied Economics TEN YEARS AGO and flew past me by!!!! They handed review sheet, ie 3. What is the difference between positive and normative economics? Write a positive statement and a normative statement. (Huh?????) I think it was Introdution to Economics for the Fundies! I dropped this course! Yikes!!! Morningstar, online course, i think it's the best. Yes!

But World Politics is neat-o!! The discussion is on Haiti, very interesting! Did you know, French and United States went to war in Haiti! I did not know! Hey! Please send money to Doctors Without Borders or Red Cross very much appreciate!

And then, my Mom and I had a talked at American Heart Association last Tuesday! The people laughed at my expression! Ha! My talk said, "Thank you for inviting me to meet with you. I had a stroke seven years ago, when I was 25 years old living in Boston. I was a research assistant at the Harvard Eating Disorders Center at Massachusetts General Hospital. I had a bad headache one night and the next morning. Then while taking a shower, I couldn’t feel my right side. "

"I go to the Art Program at the Rehab hospital two afternoons per week and have completed many paintings. I audit classes at the University of Hawaii and Kapiolani community college. I took several geography classess because I’m concerned about the environment. Today I went to TWO CLASSES, economics and political science. Mom and I go to yoga classes at the YMCA, and we swim in their pool when its not so cold. Last month I went surfing with Accesssurf program at Barbers. I want to go back every month."

Okay, every year I have to do Resolutions (in the future) and Memories (in the past). This past year Resolution 2009 was

"1. more cooking (a month or so . . . ) 2. gardening or shrubbery 3. read wall street journal and New Hour 4. yoga-ing 5. classes 6. walking (two miles yikes!) 7. meditation 8. buy stock market and 9. clean the bathroom always!"

Hmmm . . . ah oh! Well, 1. cooking? I did once a month until lagging in March!!

And 2. garden?! Not much. I did do on the patio in my apartment and I planted (sour) tomatos and herbs. I left on a trip in the summer, . . . and they dried out!! Yikes!

Merry Christmas 2009!!!

My gosh, it seems like Christmas 2008 was just past!! Holy smokes! So in December 2008 on Oahu, we had a black out at night and day. And there was going to be a party, and I was going to go, but the blackout interferred. Bummers! But the party went on anyway!

In the spring, I again took World Regional Geography (GEOG 151). The first time I took it, it was boring. Same old, same old. But in the second class was really invigorating. I did three 2-page papers!! It's hard to write the discussion, but I copied it from the the web. Whoops! And in the fall, I had a course in GEOG 356, Southeast Asia. But I want to take tons of interesting courses, Economics, Political Science and History!

Until January and March, I walked (not a wheelchair Yeah!!!) two one-mile walks. WOOHOOO!!!!! Well, with a help of my mom's shouldler. : ) And then, in August without my mom helping me only my cane I did one mile! WOOOOOHOOOOO!

In May, I got to see and article about me in Honolulu Star-Bulletin for Stroke month. I was furious what was written about my arm! My arm not stimulating!!!! GRRR! Well, two weeks ago, I had Botox in my right arm, but it's takes time to settle down. So I did! Before my arm was tight and, now after, limber with no SaeboFlex. I get so frustrated, may finders are not cooperating!! But, botox helps. : /

I finished the course Southeast Asia in Geography. "Well, you already know! . . . Hello!" My bad! Sorry!!! So, last course was on Sinicization (China). OMG! You can couple years in this course in China, but ONE day lecture in Geography. I have some MILLIONS to read about! Wow!

Anyway, here's two of my paintings. The first is Patty. She passed away in her age 60s, but she looked like she was in her 40s. She laughted A LOT and I rode with her on Handi-Van. I miss her.

And "It's SNOWING, it's snowing!!!" All of them beautiful works, but I like the second work!! I like in his face and hat, the catching snow on his tougue. I just love it!

Oh, right! I did Botox in my arm. I used it in my arm and leg in 2004-2006?, but just my arm last week. My doctor's going to do 3 series of injections in my arm. And I THINK it's working in the upper arm, but just so-so lower arm. I noticed the difference. I had forgotten my arm, but now I feel it! Whoa!

I had Halloween costume of "Furlough Friday". It's says "Furlows make me stoopid" Hahaha! Because of falling state budget in Hawaii and 10 other states! Hawaii public schools and state goverment offices are closed every Friday!

And then the "Art from the Heart"in Nov 4th. I think (I'm not QUITE sure) I've sold three paintings!! Woohoo! But, just the date of Nov 4th, Patty, a painter, died of a stroke. She had Encephalitis. She was always beaming and laughing. I miss her. Sigh.

I went to a talk on Personal Finance last Tuesday. It was well spent for $50 dollars I will have 3 classes each three hours looooong!!!. Pretty good! Yes! Half an hour after it started, I laughed William V Roth IRA or "Chang IRA" aka Instructor Brian Chang, hahaha! I did invest in a Roth IRA (note to self or anyone! Be invested on your income tax return!) in 2000 - 2003 because little birdie told me to (Thanks Amish!). I cringed when Mr Chang said, "Punahou, . . . Punahou, . . . Punahou" and I was from Punahou, yikes! After two hours, I shut down and I was too TIRED! Boy, it's long lecturing! (I think he had too much coffee!)

Midterm!!

Well, I finished the Midterm. It's on Geography: Southeast Asia, like Vietnam, Thailand, Cambodia, Laos, Burma (Myanmar), Singapore, Malaysia, East Timur and (I think?) Indonesia (right!). The Midterm is multiple choice, matching questions and short essays. I think the second one (matching) was hard. It's on the political leader, Aung San Suu Kyi = Burma. Something like that.

I finished my painting. Here's my Dad and with an older woman in 1948. I think, my Grandma had Leukemia. She passed away in around 1948. By the way, I don't like painting with Mr. Lee! I sketched and painted on my own, and then I said to him, "What do I do?" He said, "Move over!" And then, in 5 seconds like a breeze, he whips it out! But, I do the work slowly but surely. He does nice work. I am in awe.

It cracks me up on the TV in a HawaiiTelcom advertisement. There is an ASIAN Granddaughter talking to her AFRICAN Grandma. It cracks me up!!!!

I rode to the Handi-Van last Monday and Wednesday. I struck up a conversation about school, with a brain injury survivor with injuries like a stroke. He had an accident in the car about 6 years ago, same as me, he's happy as can be, but he says no pills! Wow! I give you credit! Interesting!

My Grandma got Grandpa's portrait! Yeah to Tara, painting instructor, letting me mail it to her!!! My funds IS petty! And the stock market is UP and down. GRR! That's because I want Econ 101, helping me in stock market and lots more of ideas! So much to do, so little time . . . Ah, sigh, BUT I've got time!

My arteriovenous malformation (AVM) is completely free! After six years and two
gamma knife radiosurgery procedures, I'm no more risk of bleeding
from it, said my Doctor. I get to take it easy for the rest of the day in
celebration. Doing little jig!

AND then, I rode the Handi-Van (or aka Metro-moblity) yesterday! I went to class in the morning (and said "HI!" wife swimming instructor, small world! And discuss to classmates, they'd all got finished undergraduate. Interesting!), went to painting at noontime and at home in the afternoon (about TEN people in the Hani-van! Yikes!)! It was exhausting day, . . . . . but I had dinner there at the restaurant! YES!

I had spent time with Grandma, Mom's siblings and cousins. I said to Grandma, do you cry? She said no, because Grandpa was having a rough time. For many years, Grandpa and Grandma saying the rosary everyday and now, I don't know. Grandpa was VERY religiously devoted.

Well, now back to school yesterday! I'm in Geography of Southeast Asia. I didn't have a clue about Southeast Asia, but what the heck, it sounds interesting! (I wanted Geography of China, but the class was full last week. Sigh!) There's a oral movie review. whoa! Gosh, I wanted to sit down and hide! I'm timid, but the first time make a speech that I had a stroke and aphasia! Gulp! But, I like movies, but no subtitles! I can read the sentence, but because of my stroke I only have 60% a field of vision--not on the right side and double vision to boot! GRR!

A two testa and some sad news

I had MRI and Angiogram last week. I think, I had Angiogram, . . . . or third Angiogram, I forget. Oh well! Last week Angiogram, (should I get too personal?) in my groin, it's gets so sore! I had never, i think, got so sore! Hmm!

Last Thursday, my Grandpa has passed away. Here's a picture of Grandma and Grandpa about a month ago when they had an 66th anniversary. They are holding a picture from their wedding in 1943. I did see him this summer. He was hoping to go to Arizona, but Grandma was concerned. She, and all of the siblings, liked to stay where they are. Grandpa was going to physical therapy about a month ago because he had trouble walking, but he was hopeful! I'm going up there to the funeral.

I did one mile on August 1st at the Heart Walk, easy as a pie! But without no rest! Woohoo! At the Heart Walk a year ago, I walked three times with rest in between, but this time no rest for the wicked!

There's a Hurricane Felicia accomin' straight at Big Island (and all the islands!) But, no worries. I THINK it's Hurricane 1 - 2. Before, it was Hurricane Iwa in 1982 and Hurricane Iniki in 1992. Just think happy thoughts, happy thoughts!! But, keep an eye on it, please.

This in college and his hair is SUPER LONG He cut it twice, one in Junior year and Senior year!! No, no, his hair IS bedragled all the time. I chuckled! (Sorry, "squeezy lil thang!") His face looks the same! It's so real!

Anyway, I went to lunch last Wednesday to talk about Medical Insurance. I want to save my money! There are two choices: regular Medicare and private Medicare insurance. My Medicare is no problem, but insurance, that's the question! So, time is up on Aug 1, just the MRI (every year!) are expensive ($500)! Ayaya!

I had a nice time in Minnesota! Relaxing and fun on the Fourth of July! Here's my family and Daisy, her dog. Hahaha! No firercrackers (well, just a little bit in the trees)! New year's and the Fourth is the best! In Boston on the Fourth, they'd hauled BIG HUGE TV screen at the Chuck (aka Charles) River. I'd loved it!! And in Hawaii, they had a fireworks, LOTS of em! I can smell them now of burnt paper! Sigh! Another time!

Anyway, my painting teacher Tara told me my work is like "Bay Area Figurative Movement". How AWESOME, it started in the 1950s-1960s or so! Tara said I'm the third generation. Hey! what the heck! Woohoo!

Bradley has pancreas cancer! You know, Bradley went to my speech stroke group at UH and painting group at Rehab. He's not doing good and he eats small bites of sandwich. Before I found out that he has cancer and I noticed he has seizures all the time, I said, "Come on do it; eat half of sandwich!" and then he eats half of a sandwich. In the last two weeks, first he said a quarter sandwich. Today I think he was in the hospital. Ugh! . . .

Another painting with Mr Lee and I. I was pondering the faces and I was scared. It was a HUGE canvas, but Mr Lee was standing by helping me with the faces. Phew! Thank goodness!

Last Friday, we're got into the car before the eye doctor's office. It's street sidewalk and I waited and waited after Mom left. But, . . . we got TOWED! Wowzers! $150 bucks!!!! Yikes!

On another note, I'd finish the three papers x two pages, it's on Human Geography (I am retaking this class). It's fine and dandy. I did not have to do response papers the first time. And it's getting good! I did papers on HIV, Migration and Urban Honolulu. It's interesting!

Yeah! Rest and relaxing! It's Spring Break!! Way back went, . . . in college we went in Spring Break to TWO weeks! Yes! We traveled to Europe (England and Spain), BUT cheaply! This is the life! SIGH!

Last Friday I had busy day; arm exercises 1 hour a day, a grueling leg exercise, painting and an opera; Carmen! I liked it; sad, but happy! I saw Carmen in Prague, Czech Republic. The words is . . . . in Swahili, I tune it out! But, I'll go again!! Woohoo!
Last Saturday, I walked two miles on my stroke anniversary day. It was an easy walk. I had a limp leg last Sunday. But Monday, it was gone! Whew! Thank goodness! Here's Dave, Mom, me, Kate and Maddy (a dog) at Saint Fransis School.

Today's THE day of my sixth annual stroke day, February 25th! Woohoo! Applause, applause! It's exciting times (well, hitting new LOW investments, YIKES! BUT, happy times, happy times!) I went to lunch at a restaurant, Big City Diner and I gorged all my food! OMG! I am full! This is the real life!

On a happy note, Mom and I whale watching tour together last Saturday. There's hardly whale watching tour, well a couple. I went once with Katy and Lois (HI! Katy!!!!) one on Provincetown, Massachusetts in 1999. My all time winner is Ptown, you can look up REAL close whales! WOW! That's the best!

Walked TWO miles!!

Last Saturday, I walked (not ran) TWO miles in a Fun/Run!! Woohoo! I didn't think it would happen, BUT it did!!! Last August 2008, I walked 1 mile in American Heart Association 5k (roughly 3 miles). And I was sore! I stopped and rested three times, Now, I didn't need stopping!! Because Bioness(y) helps!!

In other news, check out the Bioness(y) in the Today show. She had Multiple Sclerosis and walked Diamond Head Crater, Oahu! Whoa! That's my kind of style!

Yesterday, I had massage and it was SSSOOOOOOO wonderful (BUT, it's expensive one! Yikes!). This past week, I had knots in my shoulders and tight right ankles. And now, I'm relax . . . SIGH! But I'm still, yet again, tight shoulders and right ankle. He said, massage therapy, "You're an athlete". Oh, YAAAah!!!! DUH! Anyways, I want more, massage therapy and acupuncture!!

By the way, I had a NEW blog sowhitey.blogspot.com, not the old sowhiteyjournal.blogspot.com. So, please change it.

I had a stroke in Feb 25, 2003, Beth Israel Hospital, Feb 25, 2003 - March 24-ish, and in Spaulding Hospital March - July 9, 2009, interesting, huh? He can play music with TWO hands. I had hardest map homework. I do well with mathematics and okay reading and letters, but the numbers and reading questions is HARD because I'd had a stroke. When I do homework, I think of things which is the words mean the same. It's gets jumble up and its gets tiring! So, every week is to reading questions! Hopefully have confidence! Yes!

Last month in December 27, 2008 6:30 pm (Ee Gads! Boy that was fast! But, that's true!), we had a power went out all through in the morning. We we're made a bet, I said 8 am and I won!! WooHoo, "dancing in the streets"!

Here's this last painting in December 2008. Cara, Dave and me in TYR Goggles catalogue at Maleakahana Beach. We were laughing, but so stoic expression. They lift'em high! Anyway, I like it!

Christmas 2008

In 2008 ring out the New Year's and good times did we have! Sigh! Keith was my friend and a painter at Rehab of Hawaii. He had a heart attack and a stroke in 2004 and another stroke in February 2008. I was walking in a Hospital, hopefully to see him, but he died that day. Ugh! I miss him lot. . . .

In February 25 (my fifth stroke anniversary day), I walked ONE mile in Save Dafur. My left pelvis aching! Double UGH!In April 2008 Tim ran a Boston Marathon and Lizzy Obay won a prize for my painting! Yeah! Another in August I walked ONE mile for American Heart Association, a little bit sore, too. WOOHOO!

My Dad and his wife, Char, had his Ecclesiastical Council at Church, in May to be a minister. Yeah! Go Dad! I went to see my Dad in Iowa in October, it's a small town like at Williams College!

I took a trip in May/June in Italy with my Mom and Sandy! "Buon Giorno!" It said, "Good Day!" But Sandy, Mom and I had an up-chucked! Triple Ugh!

I got to take a trip in August/September to LA for three weeks at Advance Recovery and see my high school friends. It was smooth sailing at Advance Recovery
for two week and then three weeks the killer part! Quadruple Ugh! But I like it!!!! You can see my photo here in legs Bioness-y

And that the last of Physcal Therapy, Beth worked on Bioness. She is a great kid! She workedwith me in Jan 2004 - 2006 and Oct - Nov 2008 : ( Sigh. I WANT her back, . . . . but next year or so.

This is 2 x Thankgiving!, I ate *small* meals. HEHEHE! In the afternoon, all around the room would thanks for family and friends, BUT I would thank for my Bioness, (Bioness-y, as a term for me), that's a blessing and a HALF!!!!!

Oh happy day!! On last Monday, I went to seeDr Graham, Neurosurgery. By the way, I got to do summer 2006 Gamma Knife. I was MRI, or Magnetic Resonance (MR) - Angiography. He was pleased!!!!!!!!!!!! My AVM is getting smaller!!!!!!!!!! YEAH!!!!!!!!! Well, another year MRI and Angiography, ugh. Hmmm! But, well I guess! Ho hum!

Anyway, I thoughly impressed about Bioness. I can walk FAST! Wee! It's my right electrical simulate while I walk. WWWWWEEEEEEE! Here's my white/tan leg.

I'm sorry for the late notice. I've been busy (buzy bee!), I was in LA for my physical therapy (Wapack, wapack!!), but now I'm back and getting starting class of Geography!! Whoopie! I started late in my furious reading! I think I can make it, . . . right? Gulp! Anyways, . . . here this article about Hummer. They are closing the doors, shut down, finito . . . YEAH!! Its pretty exciting! Anyways!

Have you seen the movie, "A Room with a View", with Helena Bonham Carter? I so loved the movie! It set in Florence, Italy/England. See the movie!! Sounds familier, my self portrait in Assisi, Italy. See the bottom progress while I paint on Mondays - Fridays.

I was wandering on new iPhone(!) at YouTube, Randy Pausch died of pancreatic cancer on July 25, 2008. He was the professor at Carnegie Mellon University of computer science. Here's his blog. He's so uplifting! He will be missed.

Al Gore made a speech this week. You can see a video of it here. Time Magazine has more information about the speech. The Kyoto Protocol was adopted in 1997 but not in the U.S. Al Gore is calling for changes, in 10 years. And "We Can Solve It" attacks together on this problem! Isn't it wonderful? Comments? I saw on The World Today in my textbook on Geog 102. Take a look at this . . .
